Event list

Previous work

From a previous study [Kronfeldt, 2002] a list of events were identified based on observed GIC in South Sweden. The list is shown in the table below. An event is defined as an occasion when the difference between the maximum and minimum GIC in an one-hour interval exceeds 30 A. If several events takes place in one day it is still only idicated by one row in the table. The columns are: the date when the event started; the day of the year; the largest absolute GIC for the day; the average solar wind speed during the day; the expected CME arrival time; the actual CME arrival time; whether the CME hit the Earth. The table is based on GIC data that has been modified in accordance to changes that has taken place in the power grid configuration.

The current GIC data

Using the same criteria for event selection as described above we may also list the individual hours that exceed the threshold. At this stage we use the raw observed GIC data, we may then introduce various corrections creating new levels of processed GIC data. A text file with the events can be found below.
