1. NASA SEC Science Community Alert: NASA Research Announcement for
Space Environment Testbeds and Space Environment Effects
*****************************************************************
From: Todd Hoeksema

NASA Research Announcement (NRA) 8-31, "Living With a Star Space
Environment Testbeds & Aerospace Based Technology Program Space
Environments and Effects Program," has been issued from the Marshall
Space Flight Center.  This NRA solicits proposals for analysis of
existing in-flight data that measure the effects of environment
interactions with spacecraft and avionics components and technology
to provide improved or new models, guidelines, or databases to improve
avionics design and operations.

Details may be found at:
http://nais.msfc.nasa.gov/EPS/EPS_DATA/097863-SOL-001-001.doc

Proposals are due August 24, 2001 and Notices of Intent were due July 20,
2001.  Proposers are highly encouraged to submit a Notice of Intent even
though the deadline has passed.  Approximately $1.9M is available for
selected efforts in year 1.  Note that this is a separate solicitation
from that of NASA Headquarters under the ROSS-01 NRA for the LWS
Targeted Research and Technology Program.

Forms for Notices of Intent and for the Proposal Cover Sheet forms may
be found at:
http://see.msfc.nasa.gov/see/WorkShop/NRA_info.html
