From: Jean L Rasson                                                                       e-mail: jr@oma.be

Dear colleagues,

please note that there is now an home page for the IAGA WG V-1. The URL is: http://www.meteo.oma.be/IAGA_WG_V.1 Please visit if you want informations about Magnetic Observatories. There is a rather complete list of past and present Observatories and Variation Stations with Lat/Long, elevation and IAGA 3-letter code - useful when you have to name one of your new stations. Do make comments and remarks!

Best regards, Jean L. Rasson, WG V-1 Chair

From: E. Daly                                                                     e-mail: edaly@estec.esa.nl

The ECSS (European Cooperation for Space Standards) E-10-04 standard "Space Environment" is available in both PDF and printed form. The ECSS web site contains the official version (http://www.estec.esa.nl/ecss/copyright.html) while the Space
Environment Information System also contains an "active version" which links bi-directionally to models and tools (www.spenvis.oma.be/spenvis/).
A standard for "Environment-Induced Effects on the Electrostatic Characteristics of Space Systems" is in preparation (provisional contact: Alain.Hilgers@esa.int).

ST-4 Open Session on the Magnetosphere

Papers are solicited from all areas of magnetospheric physics, including observational, theoretical, and modeling results. This session is intended to collect papers that are not directly involved in any of the special sessions. Topics include but are not limited to
solar wind - magnetosphere - ionosphere coupling, multipoint measurements in the magnetosphere, and data-model comparisons.

Abstracts should be submitted to the EGS Office, with copies to the convener.

From: E. Daly                                                                      e-mail: edaly@estec.esa.nl

Due to logistical problems during December, it has been necessary to postpone the final presentation day which was originally planned for 14 December. A new date will be found early in 2001. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. Information on past final presentation days can be found ont he web.

ST6. CLUSTER - the first results:

The European Space Agency's Cluster-II mission is the first magnetospheric mission with four identical spacecraft flying in formation. The goal of the mission is to study, in three dimensions, the small and medium scales plasma structures that can be found in the solar wind, bow shock, magnetopause, polar cusps, magnetotail and auroral zone. The session will be devoted to the presentation of the first results which have been obtained from the first few months of operations. These may include co-ordinated ground-based observations as well as observations on the four spacecraft. Contributed papers are very welcome and may be scheduled as either oral or poster presentations.

Abstracts should be submitted to the EGS Office, with copies to both
conveners.

Details regarding abstract submission can be found at
